a curling iron, just doesn't give me the wave i want. it has too much curl.

and a three prong crimper, has too much crimp look to it, it doesn't have that natural wave.

do you think a really big curling iron would work? like the 2 inch ones? or do i need a certain kind of mouse/gel/product? i've also heard that you have to clip your hair to get these kinds of waves....any suggestions would be helpful thank you so much.

blow dry it upside down then put gel thru it ( i dont use gel, i just spray hairspray all over) then scrunch! Its about the only thing that works for me and i have super straight hair!

what i do is i get this really huge rollers(you can get them from wal mart)....and i spray tre semme hair spray and then take a roller and roll my hair but every time before i put it in i put hairspray on it....you leave it in there for maybe about 1hr and then i take it out and i brush it out ...it works perfect..and my hair is really really long so it'll work perfect on your hair....

My personal test for this is to wet hair thoroughly in washbowl or shower and gently squoosh the tips toward the scalp. If the hair folds once, you have straight hair. If the accordion-folds, then you have naturally wavy hair.

If my hair is blow-dried or dries hanging from its own weight, it's straight. If I dry it as suggested at the jessicurl website, it comes out just like the LA times picture you'd shown.

Conditioner or similar helps the wave last longer.

What I would do is go the salon and get a wave put into your hair. Bring the picture with you and have the stylist show you how to get the look you want.
